Missions Sunday 2025

On Sunday, March 23, we celebrated what God is doing around the world through missions. Our special guest (via Zoom) was Maely Iona, a missionary from Sao Paolo, serving in all of Brazil. Maely coordinates a program called EMA, which is an acronym for a phrase in Portuguese that translates to English as Mission School for Adolescents. Groups of teens and young adults gather during their school holidays in locations around Brazil and Peru to study the Bible, share in artistic workshops, and learn tools for evangelism. At the end of the week the group goes into the nearby cities to share the Gospel. Graduates of the EMA program have gone on to be missionaries and serve the Lord through their local churches.
We had some technical glitches, but we were able to watch a sermon that Maely video taped for us, and we connected with her live over Zoom. Remember to pray for Maely and the EMA program. Watch the video about EMA or the whole service by clicking the video links.

Nazarene Missions International (NMI) is the global missions advocate for the Church of the Nazarene, nurturing a spirit of missions, and mobilizing into action impacting people around the world. NMI focuses on five strategies where the local church can have maximum impact on missions in the Church of the Nazarene.
1. Prayer: NMI gathers believers together for prayer in the local church, linking us to our brothers and sisters in Christ across the globe.
2. World Evangelism Fund: WEF fuels the Church of the Nazarene’s mission by combining gifts from each person and church to fund ministries everywhere.
3. Alabaster: Through our Alabaster offering, ministries around the world receive funds to purchase property and buildings.
4. Engage Children and Youth: We encourage generational involvement by including young people through education and fostering calls to missions.
5. Care & Connection: This area, which combines Links, Work & Witness, and other ministries, strategically connects Nazarene missionaries and Nazarene churches through prayer, personal contact, and generous giving.
